📖 Game Overview & Lore
Four in a Line is a timeless vertical strategy game of mathematical depth and tactical cunning. Players take turns dropping colored checkers into a 7-column, 6-row suspended blue grid. The objective: be the first player to form an unbroken horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line of four matching discs while actively blocking your opponent’s tactical threats.

🏆 Master Strategies & Pro Tips
- Control the center column (Column 4): discs in the middle column can participate in exponentially more potential 4-in-a-row winning lines than edge columns.
- Always look for opponent three-in-a-rows before making your move to prevent sudden game-ending surprises.
- Create "double threats" (forks) where your move creates two simultaneous winning lines that the opponent cannot block in one turn.
- Never place a disc directly underneath an opponent’s critical empty slot unless you are forcing an immediate defense.
- Think one move ahead: calculate which cell will open up for your opponent once your disc settles at the bottom of a column.
🧠 Cognitive & Educational Skill Outcomes
Strengthens non-verbal strategic planning, forward move calculation, spatial diagonal visualization, and inhibitory caution.
🏫 Classroom & Educator Utility
A favorite staple for school chess and board game clubs, teaching game-tree analysis and combinatorial game theory.
